Abstract

The purpose of this study is toidentify the use of electronic devices for academic purposes and social media that can be used in the classroom to propose standar policies that may be implemented in the classroom by teachers and students of the Advanced English I course, semester II - 2017 of English Teaching and Modern Languages major at the University of El Salvador. In this age Smartphones, Computers, Tablets, and many other electronic devices are part of humankind, every day people are in contact with electronical devices, even for work, study or entertainment. If you take a look around you, probably you could see that each person around you have a direct contact with some electronic device, and this is because they are useful, even for basic activities like communicating with other people. ITU‘s flagship annual Measuring the Information Society Report, reveals that 3.2 billion people are now online, representing 43.4% of the global population, while mobilecellular subscriptions have reached almost 7.1 billion worldwide, with over 95% of the global population now covered by a mobile-cellular signal‖. (The International Telecommunication Union ITU, November 2015)
