Abstract

In El Salvador one of the debts of the state is to uphold the right of education for the entire population, as required by the constitution of the republic, the bet has always been economic development for minorities and the majority is in high poverty conditions. Tecoluca does not escape from this reality, there are families living in extreme poverty that stops them from continuing their studies, for this and other reasons, we consider important to research which allows us to confirm the scenario of poverty among families in the volcano area municipality and the various difficulties that young people have to continue their studies at secondary and higher education. Understanding this result as the starting point in this process of improving the quality of life in the population. The students population, are all young people from the volcano sector who graduated from high school in ninth grade and the years of 2009 and 2010, residents in the communities, New Tehuacan, El Arco, San Francisco Tehuacan, Mount Sinai and Brisas Volcano, all located in the municipality of Tecoluca, Department of San Vicente. Consultation was conducted, 65 youth identified as units of analysis who met the selection criteria for the study, this figure was obtained through review of the record books to promote in schools where they studied the young people, including: Rafaela Suarez Education Complex, National Institute of Tecoluca, Educational and Mount Sinai School Center Caserío Tehuacan. The method used for the collection of information is the direct approach with each of the young people who are units of analysis, using the survey and direct observation of social and economic environment in which are developed every young people. In this research, being a non-parametric hypothesis test used is the Chi-square (χ2), because the statistical test used to test hypotheses about the relationship between two variables and test hypotheses which are correlational According to the results, we accept the working hypothesis with a level of confidence of 95%, so it is concluded that the main cause for which volcano sector youth do not continue their studies in secondary and higher education is economic factors and family poverty is associated with the educational characteristics that determine the quality of the workforce in the household, that doesnt mean that young people show no interest in further education and higher education to find places of employment. It is important to highlight that the percentage of women interested in continuing their education is higher compared with men, of course they have been excluded for decades for this opportunity. The proposal to reduce the high rates of youths with the opportunity to continue their studies, is complex, but somehow the platform to build a municipal educational policy, help to build citizenship, will resolve some cases they can continue their studies, this construction must logically be considered comprehensively resolve, where we are all the main actors.
