Abstract

The classroom is a place where the teacher and the student live in a close proximity; in fact, they live under the same umbrella of the teaching-learning process. Consequently, the more this umbrella provides facilities, the more genuine learning will take place since the classroom is the most important place where students get formal education to become professionals and to put into practice what they have learnt. The purpose of this study was to investigate the impact of overcrowded Practice Teaching courses on the learning of students registered in Practice Teaching II, Semester II - 2017 at the Foreign Language Department of the University of El Salvador. The research project had the intention of demonstrating that it is quite better to work with small groups rather than with overcrowded groups so that, students can show better results and develop their teaching knowledge in a better way through real life as it is well known that practice makes perfect. In addition, this study enumerated the cons of having large number of students in the groups of Practice Teaching II in order to bring a better understanding of the problem that students face in every semester due to the fact that just two groups are always opened for all students. Besides, the result could create a smart strategy to organize the amount of students enrolled per group, and these findings could be shared with the teachers and students from the Foreign Language Department.
