Abstract

RESRUMEN: El conocimiento que van acumulando las personas durante su vida es un proceso inherente del ser humano, sin embargo, el conocimiento acerca de un determinado tema o enfermedad es algo que no poseen todos por igual, sino que va ligado al medio en que se desarrollan, así como también al nivel académico, la curiosidad u otros distintos aspectos. El objetivo de esta investigación fue determinar el nivel de conocimiento que posee cierto grupo de la carrera de doctorado en medicina acerca del virus del papiloma humano y también evidenciar el hecho de la realización de prácticas de riesgo en este grupo hacia dicha infección. Metodología: La investigación tuvo un enfoque cuantitativo en donde se aplicó una escala de Likert para la medición del nivel de conocimiento de la población en estudio, La cual está constituida por 234 estudiantes de 3er año de Doctorado en Medicina de la Universidad de El Salvador, todos de la Facultad Multidisciplinaria Oriental con sede en San Miguel, sin importar edad o sexo, y de estos se determinó una muestra de 146 estudiantes, la técnica para recolección de datos fue documental en físico y en línea, se utilizó la escala Likert para evaluar conocimientos y actitudes sobre el VPH, a través de una encuesta online. Resultados: Se comprobó el hecho de que la mayoría de la población estudiada posee un buen nivel de conocimiento acerca del VPH, al corroborar que un 51.4% obtuvo un puntaje de conocimiento alto en la escala de Likert utilizada para este estudio. Conclusiones: El nivel de conocimiento sobre el diagnóstico, manifestaciones clínicas, y tratamiento sobre el virus del papiloma humano de los estudiantes de tercer año de medicina es alto, e igualmente los resultados sobre el conocimiento y actitudes fue muy similar tanto en la población femenina y la masculina estudiada. ABSTRACT: The knowledge that people accumulate during their lives is an inherent process of the human being, however, knowledge about a certain subject or disease is something that not all have the same, but is linked to the environment in which it is the develop, as well as the academic level, curiosity or other different aspects. The objective of this research was to determine the level of knowledge that a certain group of the doctoral degree in medicine has about the human papilloma virus and also to demonstrate the fact that risk practices are carried out in this group towards said infection. Methodology: The research had a quantitative approach where a Likert scale was applied to measure the level of knowledge of the population under study, which is made up 234 of 3rd year students of the Doctorate in Medicine of the University of El Salvador, all from the Oriental Multidisciplinary Faculty based in San Miguel, regardless of age or sex, and from these a sample of 146 students was determined, the data collection technique was physical and online documentary, the Likert scale was used to evaluate knowledge and attitudes about HPV, through an online survey. Results: The fact that the majority of the population studied has a good level of knowledge about HPV was verified, by corroborating that 51.4% obtained a high knowledge score on the Likert scale used for this study. Conclusions: The level of knowledge about the diagnosis, clinical manifestations, and treatment of the human papillomavirus of third-year medical students is high, and also the results on knowledge and attitudes were very similar in both the female and male population.
