Abstract

ABSTRACT: The research is based on selecting and obtaining wood samples through ASTM D 5536-94; 5 Teak trees and 5 Spanish Elm trees of DBH between 30 to 44 cm with a total of 40 teak specimens and 40 Spanish Elm specimens for direct obtaining of physical properties (specific gravity GE ASTM D 2395-14 and moisture content CH% ASTM D 4442-92) the average values were the following: 84.16% and 62.48% for moisture content; 0.32 and 0.41 specific gravity for Teak and Spanish Elm respectively, the mechanical properties were 25 tension specimens, 25 compression specimens and 25 static bending specimens for both species tested by means of ASTM D143-94; the averages were the following: compression 12.40 and 17.74 MPa in the proportional limit 40.02 and 47.66 MPa ultimate stresses of teak and Spanish Elm respectively; stress 75.34 and 92.78 MPa in the proportional limit, 128.76 and 153.35 MPa ultimate stresses of Teak and Spanish Elm respectively, static bending 34.61 and 40.48 MPa in the proportional limit, 56.22 MPa and 67.27 MPa ultimate stresses of teak and Spanish Elm respectively the modulus of elasticity Compression averages were: 40,543.82 and 62,488.93 MPa Teak: 2,002.77 and 906.58 MPa static bending: 12,577.64 and 12916.40 MPa Teak and Spanish Elm respectively; created 16 mathematical equations that relate the DBH variables and the physical and mechanical properties of which their coefficient of completion R2 the highest of 27.89% of relationship
